EMERGENCY Turns 27

It had to be “simple and immediate, clear, easily replicable wherever you were, even with a little red paint, a piece of wood and some rope ”. This was the brief for the EMERGENCY logo, born 27 years ago.

Since 15 May 1994, this red and encircled ‘E’ has been a symbol of our daily commitment to ensure free and high-quality care for the victims of war, landmines and poverty, wherever it is needed.

It is a symbol that represents practicing medicine based on equality and human rights. It is a symbol of the commitment against war and the desire to build a peaceful world.

Behind this logo are the over 11 million people we have treated, and all those we will treat.

And you are there too. The people who support us every day.
