International Disaster Relief Expo 2019

On Wednesday 4 December, EMERGENCY was delighted to participate in a panel discussion at the 2019 International Disaster Relief Expo in London. Organised by Crisis Response Journal, the session focused on humanitarian responses in disaster contexts, and the impact of people working in areas affected by conflict.

Michela Paschetto, a member of EMERGENCY’s Medical Divison who has coordinated the organisation’s projects in Afghanistan and Iraq, delivered a presentation entitled ‘Hospitals in Warzones: A case study in mass casualty events’.

She concluded her talk with a statement that epitomises EMERGENCY’s principles:

“There is no such thing as ‘medicine for developing countries’. Medicine is medicine. Everyone – even in the midst of war, conflict and poverty, deserves access to treatment”.

A huge thank you to all those who attended the discussion and to Crisis Response Journal.
