EMERGENCY Meets with WHO Director-General in Geneva
On Monday 18 February, EMERGENCY once again met with the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and his team in Geneva.
Dr Tedros had already visited our projects in Kabul and Khartoum. On this occasion, the meeting covered a wide range of topics, focused on our joint long-term commitment to the provision of comprehensive, high quality healthcare, and the importance of capacity building and training.
EMERGENCY President Rossella Miccio, who led the NGO delegation, thanked the WHO for the “warm welcome and productive discussion”. She added that “EMERGENCY is fully committed to improving trauma care in fragile and war-torn countries by providing the best possible care and building local capacity.”
The WHO delegation reiterated its appreciation for EMERGENCY’s work around the world, with Dr Tedros saying that he had “seen first-hand the incredible work it does”.
EMERGENCY looks forward to continuing our relationship with the WHO as we work together to respond to the world’s health needs and challenges.
