EMERGENCY Featured in Royal Academy Renzo Piano Exhibition

The need for medical care never stops. Neither does EMERGENCY.

Construction of a new Centre of Excellence in Uganda began in 2017. The new hospital will provide state of the art paediatric surgical operations for the Ugandan population, as well as those referred to the facility from the 29 countries that are part of our wider international network.

The hospital has been designed by the world-renowned architect Renzo Piano, who is the subject of a major new exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. ‘Renzo Piano: The Art of Making Buildings’ charts the architect’s extraordinary career, from the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris to the Shard in London. EMERGENCY’s new facility is featured in great detail, alongside some of the most famous buildings in the world, with drawings, scale models, and examples of the ‘rammed earth’ technique, which will be used to construct the Centre.

The facility will be built using innovative solutions to minimise energy consumption, combining architectural excellence with state-of-the-art medical care, and providing the best environment for patients’ treatment and recovery.

The exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to witness the skill and dedication that goes into constructing the highest quality medical facilities. We are honoured to have partnered with Renzo Piano on this project and are delighted to be featured at the Royal Academy.

You can find more details here.

The project is designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with the architecture firm Studio tamassociati, with structural design provided by Milan Ingegneria, plant engeneering by Prisma Engineering, and landscape design by Franco and Simona Giorgetta – a landscape architects firm.
