Sierra Leone: Update on Situation in Freetown
At least 6,000 people have lost their homes due to the mudslide and subsequent flooding in Freetown. 50 injured arrived at our hospital and more than 300 have died across the region, although the number may rise as rescuers are continue to dig and search through the mud and rubble.
Alice was the team leader at the EMERGENCY Paediatric Centre in Goderich and has worked in our hospital for more than 10 years. We have been looking for her all day long, hoping until the end that she was not at home at the time of the mudslide.
Alice died on Monday, together with her two children.
Our thoughts go out to her family, friends and colleagues.
We will miss her very much.
