EMERGENCY Wins the EESC Civil Solidarity Prize
We are honoured to announce that EMERGENCY has won the EESC Civil Solidarity Prize today, for its “outstanding contribution to fighting COVID-19 and its disastrous consequences.”
Thank you to the European Economic And Social Committee for choosing us. This award represents important recognition of our healthcare model and an endorsement of our aim to ensure that nobody is left behind during this pandemic.
From the very beginning of the outbreak, we sought to prevent contagion, protect people and guarantee the continuity of urgently needed life-saving care. Collecting the award, our president Rossella Miccio explained the effect of this response: “All of our projects remained open and we began new initiatives too, helping over 500,000 people across Italy, the African content, Iraq and Afghanistan. COVID-19 clearly taught us that no one is safe until everyone is safe”.
We deeply appreciate the solidarity shown by EESC. Only by coming together can we overcome the difficulties of this unprecedented challenge.
