World Safety Patient Day 2020

Today is World Patient Safety Day. Patient safety means safe hospital care through patient-centred treatment and high quality services.

The theme for 2020? That there is no better way to protect patients than to protect healthcare workers. This is an imperative, basic rule for sustainable and well-functioning healthcare systems that has been made even clearer as we collectively fight an unpredictable and invisible virus.

From the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, we developed detailed protocols to protect healthcare workers and their patients. For us, this has meant compartmentalisation: of hospitals, of people, of objects, of spaces. This has been key to EMERGENCY’s rigid system to prevent contagion and stop the spread of the virus.

There can be no safe treatment without a safe healthcare environment, and there can be no safe patient without a safe healthcare worker.
