Upcoming Events in London: “Till the Last Bird Sings”

Save the Date!

Join EMERGENCY in London on 31 July and 1 August

“Till the Last Bird Sings” is a graphic novel about access to care and everyday life in Afghanistan, conceived by EMERGENCY and made by the artists La Tram and Francesca Romana Torre, who visited our projects in the country in July 2023. Together, we hope to shine a light on some of the issues the Afghan people currently face, from the vantage point of our hospitals and healthcare centres.

One year on from their visit, join us in London to meet the creators of “Till the Last Bird Sings”, and hear from other artists telling stories from the frontlines of conflict and humanitarian settings.

31 July – Meet the creators of “Till the Last Bird Sings”

Hosted by our wonderful friends ISHKAR, join us for an evening with La Tram and Francesca Romana Torre, the creators of “Till the Last Bird Sings”, as they discuss the making of the graphic novel. Printed copies will be available at the event.

Where: ISHKAR, 94 Columbia Road London E2 7QB
When: Wednesday, 31 July. 6:30pm – 8:00pm

1 August – Art from the Frontlines Panel Discussion

Join us at the Frontline Club in Paddington alongside several artists and journalists whom we have collaborated with to tell EMERGENCY’s story. Amid 24-hour news and continuously refreshing social media feeds, a panel comprised of illustrators, graphic novelists and filmmakers come together to discuss how stories from the frontline of conflict and humanitarian settings can be told in innovative ways that cut through to audiences.

The panellists include the creators of “Till The Last Bird Sings” and other projects, including Lynzy Billing, the investigative journalist behind an animated film on Special Forces’ night raids in Helmand province, Afghanistan, and George Butler, whose reportage illustration has taken him from Gaza to Syria.

Where: The Frontline Club, 13 Norfolk Place, London, W2 1QJ
When: Thursday, 1 August. 7:00pm – 8:30pm
