“S is 31 years old. He arrived in Italy a little over a month ago, having made an exhausting journey on foot from Pakistan to Milan, via the Balkan route. To make the journey even harder, one of his feet was horribly broken and went untreated.
Violence leaves scars. Not only physical, but mental ones too.
We witness this first-hand at our clinics in southern Italy, where we offer free psychological support. Many of our patients there are migrants who have endured unimaginable suffering on their journey: the effects of war and violence are deep and profound.
